Thalapathy Vijay is not only an actor but also a political leader now. He started his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, last month. While he has been giving out party updates regularly, more than 50 lakh members joined his party through the web app revealed by him recently.
TVK leader Vijay released his first official political statement critiquing the central and state governments yesterday. As the central BJP government implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) last evening, Vijay took to his party's social media page and put out a statement regarding the same. This has been a hot topic on the internet since last night.
Thalapathy Vijay's statement says: "Any law like the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, which promotes divisive politics, is not acceptable in an environment where all the people of the country live in social harmony. The rulers should give an assurance that they will not enforce the law in Tamil Nadu." This criticises the act implemented by the central governments and urges the state government to stand against it.
