The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) has released the top TRP ratings in Malayalam television and Vijay's 'Mersal' (8.59pts) and 'Theri' (7.64pts) are placed at number one and two. '2Countries' (5.60pts), 'Baahubali 2' (5.04pts) and 'Puthiya Mugam' (4.92 points) are the next films in the Top 5 proving the that Thalapathy Vijay is the undisputed champion of viewership both in theaters and television in Kerala.

The buzz is that there is a battle between Kerala distributors who are trying to bag Thalapathy Vijay's Diwlai release 'Sarkar' for a huge sum. The film directed by A.R. Murugadoss and music scored by A.R. Rahman also has the state's favorite actress Keerthy Suresh in the lead.
