Captain Vijayakanth, a revolutionary icon in Tamil cinema and politics, breathed his last yesterday at the age of 71. His body was kept at the DMDK head office in Koyambedu last night. Thalapathy Vijay came all the way and paid his last respects to the great man yesterday around 10 PM.

Thalapathy Vijay was seen teary-eyed and extremely emotional on seeing Vijayakanth's body. He expressed his condolences to Captain's wife and sons. He had to leave immediately due to over crowd. Photos and videos of Vijay paying last respects to Vijayakanth are doing rounds on social media. Vijay was shooting for 'Thalapathy 68' earlier but took a break and came to pay his last respects.

It is worth mentioning Captain Vijayakanth played a huge role in Vijay's career in the earlier days. Vijay played Vijayakanth's younger brother in the 1993 film, 'Senthoorapandi', to give a boost to Vijay's career. That film was directed by Vijay's father SA Chandrasekhar who gave a big break to Vijayakanth in the early days with the blockbuster, 'Sattam Oru Iruttarai'.

Captain Vijayakanth acted in Senthoorapandi for SAC and Vijay without charging a salary. Vijay has grown to be the Thalapathy of Tamil cinema today. He paid tear-filled last respects to Captain Vijayakanth who was his mentor yesterday. Vijay's last respects to Vijayakanth made the fans and audience emotional as well.
