Thalapathy Vijay's grand honorary event to felicitate the top scorers of classes 10 and 12 is today's hot topic all over. Organised by the actor's welfare association Makkal Iyakkam, the function took place in Chennai this morning. The students were super happy to have been honoured by the superstar.
As usual, Thalapathy Vijay's speech was the best part of the day and it is doing rounds on the internet. Here are some excerpts from his speech at the Students Honoring ceremony. Vijay said, I've spoken at many audio launch functions, but this is very different for me. I have a lot of responsibility here and I can feel that.
I'm not a high-flying student like you, but I wanted to do something for the students and the teachers who worked hard for this. I recently saw a film and the dialogue from it hit me hard. I feel that is very important and it has to be taken seriously, added the actor. He recited Dhanush's famous dialogue from Asuran which goes, One can take away our money, snatch our properties but no one can steal our education.
Vijay further continued, When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, everything is lost. I'm not an avid book reader, but recently, I started reading and I'm enjoying the process. Even when scripts come to me, I prefer to hear the narration. I request youngsters to read more, learn about Ambedkar, Periyar and Kamarajar.
Many will demotivate you, criticise you and tell you that you can't do it. But don't take it personally. We have to listen to the voice within ourselves to keep focused and achieve greater things. You students will be voters in future. Students have to choose good leaders in the future. Some are hurting us with our own hands during the elections, said the actor.
Thalapathy added, I have one request. If there are students who haven't done well in exams, please support them. Spend time with them and explain how easy it is to pass exams. People will always be there to discourage you, what's important is to listen to the voice inside you. He also advised the children to limit their social media usage.
