Vijay is currently busy with the shoot of his upcoming sports action film Bigil, directed by Atlee, as is director Shankar, who is also working on his upcoming film Indian 2, the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian, starring Kamal Haasan.

Shankar had already hinted at a sequel of his 1999 political action thriller Mudhalvan, that starred Arjun. While rumours are doing the rounds that Vijay will be joining hands with Shankar for one of his upcoming movies, sources close to us have revealed that the duo might be coming together for the sequel of Mudhalvan. Vijay was initially offered the lead role in Mudhalvan, but he had to decline it due to schedule constraints. However, an official confirmation of the same is awaited.
