Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Mersal’ released this Diwali to an overwhelming response from audiences worldwide. Amid certain controversies around the content of the movie, ‘Mersal’ went on to create records in collection. 

Now, the worldwide collection of the film stands at whopping Rs.247 crores. The film has garnered about half its profit (Rs.120 crores) in Tamil Nadu alone. It is also notable that ‘Mersal’ stands only next to Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali’ in terms of profit collection.

Breakdown of profits from TN:

1.Chennai: Rs.12.85 crores
2.Chengalpattu: Rs.22 crores
3.Coimbatore: RS.20 crores
4.Madurai: RS.21 crores
5.Thirunelveli/Kanyakumari: Rs.8 crores

Adding in profits from other regions as well, ‘Mersal’ has reaped in Rs.120 crores in TN state and Rs.240 crores worldwide becoming the year’s highest grossing film.
