Will Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' release be affected?

The Tamil Film Producers Council has announced stoppage of new film releases from the 6th of October in protest against the TN govt levy of 10% Entertainment tax over the existing 28% GST. Earlier Multiplexes under MAI (Inox and PVR) went on an indefinite strike from 3rd October.
Information coming in indicate that if the government does not accept the plea of the film fraternity to repeal the ET, theaters all over the state could shutdown in the coming weeks. If this happens small films with good content like Dulquer Salman's 'Solo', Ilayaraja musical 'Kalathoor Gramam and the multistarrer 'Vizhithiru' slated for release this Friday will be severely affected.
If the issues are not sorted out in the near future the grand Diwali release of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' is also in the danger of being affected which will be a huge blow for the millions of fans. Hope immediate steps are taken to save the industry and thousands of families depending on it.
