The BJP TN wing has been baying for certain scenes and dialogues in 'Mersal' to be deleted to avoid agitation and cases.  The issue has garnered unprecedented support from the Local and National media and political bigwigs like Rahul Gandhi, Stalin, Vaiko, Kamal Haasan, Thirumavalavan and others.

In the meantime industry insiders are also reporting that producer Murali of Sri Thenandal Studios has held talks with Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and has agreed to mute the dialogues in question.  When we got in touch with theater owners we were informed that an oral instruction has come to mute the dialogues by Tuesday (24/10/2017).  It remains to be seen if the much appreciated dialogues will remain or be silenced due to the suppression of freedom of speech by the powers that be.
