The South Indian International Awards (SIIMA) was held in Dubai’s Bollywood Parks in Dubai where Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Mersal’ scored four major awards for the year 2017. Atlee was named Best Director, A.R. Rahman the Best Music Director, Vivek the Best Lyricist and Sid Sriram the Best Singer. Pushkar Gayathri’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ produced by Sashikanth took home the Best Film and the Best Actor (Special Price) which Madhavan received for his brilliant portrayal of the troubled cop Vikram. Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara were honored with the Best Actor and Actress Awards respectively for ‘Velaikkaran’ and ‘Aramm’.
The rest of the winners are M.S. Bhaskar – Best Supporting Actor (‘8 Thottakkal’), Sshvidhaa – Best Supporting Actress (‘Athey Kangal’), Lukshimi Sivanesaralingam – Best Female Singer (‘Bogan’), S.J. Suyah – Best Villain (‘Spyder’), Soori – Best Comedy Actor (‘Sangili Bungili Kadhavae Thora’), Ravi Varman – Best Cinematographer (‘Kaatru Veliyidai’), Vasanth Ravi – Best Debutante Actor (‘Taramani’), Aditi Rao Hydari – Best Debutante Actress (‘Kaatru Veliyidai’) and Arun Prabhu Purushothaman – Best Debutante Director (‘Aruvi’).
