Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has created waves at the Tamil Nadu box office on its first weekend. Producer Seven Screen Studio officially confirmed that the gangster actioner made a staggering Rs. 148.5 crores on its opening day.

Now Hollywood's leading film portals including Variety and Collider have confirmed that 'Leo' beat the critically acclaimed 'Killers of The Flower Moon' to emerge the number one at the global box office. The reports said that the Vijay starrer grossed $48.5 million globally while the Martin Scorsese directed Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro starrer collected $44 million.

The Hollywood reports have further boosted the spirits of Thalapathy Vijay fans who had a hard time defending 'Leo' against negative and mixed reviews by critics as well as netizens. Sources say that the much hyped film needs only Rs. 125 Crores to beat Superstar Rajinikanth's all time Tamil blockbuster 'Jailer'.

'Leo' has music score by Anirudh, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, editing by Philomin Raj, stunts by Anbariv and art direction by Satheesh Kumar. The ensemble cast includes Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Trisha, Madonna Sebastian, Priya Anand and Mansoor Ali Khan.
