Ever since the brutal rape and murder of 26-year-old Priyanka Reddy, whose charred body was found on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway on Thursday, people have been expressing outrage on social media platforms, demanding justice for the woman.

A few popular pages of actor Vijay's fans on Twitter took the initiative to trend #PunishRapistsInPublic, condemning the gruesome act of the four accused men, identified as Mohammed Arif, Shiva, Naveen and, Chennakeshavulu. #RIPPriyankaReddy and #JusticeForPriyankaReddy are also among the top trending hashtags on Twitter the last two days, with thousands of tweets calling for capital punishment for the rapists.

Vijay, during the audio launch of Bigil, requested his fans to trend important matters in the country rather than engaging themselves in useless fan wars. The actor would be proud to learn that his fans are following his words of wisdom. Police have registered a case under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC and sections of the Nirbhaya Act.
