Thalapathy Vijay has been nominated for Best Actor as well as Best Interntional Actor categories in the prestigious International Achievement Recognition Awards (IARA) and the grand event will be held on 22nd September at Canary Warf, London. He has got the honor for his sterling performance in triple characters in 'Mersal' produced by Sri Thenandal Studios and directed by Atlee.
Thalapathy Vijay locks horns with contemperary actors like John Boyega ("Star Wars :Last Jedi"), Jamie Lomas ("Hollyoaks"), Chris Atoh ("Swings"), David Tenant ("Don Juan in Soah"), Jack Parry Jones ('Bang'), Daniel Kaluuyaa ('Get out') and Zac Morris ('Eastenders') for the Best Actor honors.
In the International Best Actor category Vijay's distinguished rivals are Khumbulami Kay Sibia ('Agent), Joshua Jackson ('Children of Lesser God'), Adjetey Anang ('Side Chick Gang') Taim Hasan ('El Heba El Awda') and Kenneth Okolie ('The Royal HIbiscus Hotel').
Its a clear message that the familiar but interestingly told and culturally rooted 'Mersal' has not only swayed local audiences but international ones too and its great credit to Vijay, Atlee, A.R. Rahman, Hema Rukmani and the entire team for this rare honor to Tamil cinema. "Aalaporaan Tamzhan" for sure.
