Superstar Rajinikanth fans are eagerly waiting for his next movie as it is almost six months since the release of 'Annaathe' and are anxious to see him this year itself. It has already been announced that 'Thalaivar 169' will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures while Anirudh will be scoring the music.

Filming for 'Thalaivar 169' is set to begin in August and is slated for release on Pongal 2023. It is said that Rajini has suggested that K.S. Ravikumar should come on board to work on the script and accordingly he is already a part of the project. The involvement of the legendary commercial filmmaker has not been official yet though.

It is common knowledge that some of Rajini's biggest hits in his career including 'Muthu', 'Padaiyappa' and 'Lingaa'. He was to shoot a big budget epic film 'Ranaa' but was shelved due to various reasons.

'Thalaivar 169' is said to feature Sivakarthikeyan, Ramya Krishnan and Priyanka Mohan though the cast and crew details have not been announced yet.
