Thala Dhoni, one of the biggest players in the cricketing world, decided to foray into the film industry as a producer with his wife Sakshi. The Tamil film 'LGM' will mark the debut of their banner Dhoni Entertainment. MSD and Sakshi flew to Chennai yesterday for the audio and trailer launch of the film. Dhoni's speech at the event went viral.
The legendary cricketer talked about his love for Chennai and Tamil and how it is reciprocated by the people. Here are some excerpts from his speech last night: "Give a big whistle for CSK. My wife said she knows bad words in Tamil, but I didn’t teach any Tamil bad words to her as I don’t know any bad words in Tamil. But, I know in other languages.
How many of you are married here? You all know who is the BOSS of the house. So when my wife said that we'll be producing a film, I was game. My first test debut is in Chennai. My highest test score is in Chennai and now my first movie is in Tamil. Chennai is more special to me. I was adopted here in 2008 when IPL started. We produced our first movie in Tamil because of our mutual love for the state.
Trust me, LGM is one of the fastest shot Tamil movies and we shot it in record time. I wanted to make everybody happy and I just told my team two things - Provide good food to everybody and once you decide on something, go for it and don't think twice. LGM is a clean movie. I can watch it with my daughter too, and even though she will have a lot of questions, she will enjoy it.
The film is based on how a guy handles the issues between his mom and his girlfriend. I didn't interfere in LGM's work because the production happened between two IPL seasons. But I did keep asking my team on the status. I really enjoyed the movie. Nadiya spoke with her eyes, Harish Kalyan spoke a lot here at the audio launch but he has less lines in the film. Both the ladies don't let him talk."
Yogi Babu, earlier in his speech, mentioned that he wants to play under Thala's captaincy in CSK. Replying to Yogi Babu's speech, he said, "Rayudu is retired. So we do have a place in CSK. I’ll speak to the management. But you are so busy with shooting, you have to play consistently. And let me tell you, they bowl very fast. They bowl to injure you only."
When asked about his bond with the CSK's key pacer Deepak Chahar, Thala sarcastically said, "I can't find words easily for him. He is like a drug. If he's not there, you'd think where he is. If he's around, you'd think why is he here. But good to see that he is maturing. He will mature at 50 and be smart enough as Ziva is now at 8. Like wine, he takes time. But I won't be able to drink that wine, I'll be done and dusted by the time he matures."
LGM is a rom-com directed by Ramesh Thamilmani. It stars Harish Kalyan, Ivana, Nadiya, Yogi Babu, Mirchi Vijay, Srinath, VTV Ganesh, Vinodhini, Deepa Shankar, Vikkals Vikram, Vikkals Hari and many others. The movie has music by Ramesh Thamilmani with DOP by Odukkathil Viswajith, editing by Pradeep E Ragav with art by Arun Venjaramoodu and stunts by Ganesh Kumar. LGM is coming soon to cinemas.
