India is under total lockdown for the next twenty one days in an attempt to halt the spread of the coronavirus and if possible to eradicate it. The Tamil Nadu government is extensively spraying disinfectants in all areas to destroy the killer microorganisms but in some places, it is not possible for the big vehicles to pass through.
The TN government has reportedly decided to use drones to sprinkle disinfectants in the areas where vehicles can't get through. Already a test has been done on the Rippon Building near Central Station and four more drones are to be employed from the Anna University.
It is worth recalling that Thala Ajith was the expert consultant during the design of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle by the Daksha team in IIT Chennai who participated in the UAV Challenge Medical Express 2018, which was held in Queensland, Australia and came second. The drones are developed to supply medicines to remote areas and hilly terrains where other traffic is impossible and now the Thala expertise is going to be used in the fight against COVID 19.
