'Thaayi' team felicitated

Whether Dr.Baraguru Ramachandrappa's 'Thaayi' Kannada film (based on Maxim Gharki Russian Novel 'Mother') celebrate the 100 days or not but the felicitation to team members of 'Thaayi' was held at Suchitra Film Society on last Saturday in a simple function coinciding the Maxim Garki's 'Mother' novel centenary celebration.

Veteran actress Pramila Joshai is the producer of this revolutionary film and she also plays the title role in this film. She has sold the property given by her mother to raise money for this film. Making a brief speech on this occasion Pramila Joshai one of the finest actresses of Kannada cinema said she came to this field from art film, doing commercial films for the livelihood and produced an art film now.

The novel 'Mother' translated in to 123 languages in the world is made here in Kannada in a shoe string budget. Dr.Baraguru Ramchandrappa has made a few changes to fit the present scenario in this off beat film. The illiterate woman in the attempt to save her son from the clutches of police takes up the real cause of the society is the striking aspect says Baraguru. He has plans to release the film on April 27 or May 4 in Karnataka.

Veteran stage artiste and Ranga Shankara theatre head Arundhati recalled the days of 'Minchina Ota' where her husband Shanker Nag and versatile actor Ananth Nag were all tensed with the parallel cinema made. Arundhati felt that the media has always recognized such new attempts in the past and it would maintain same support she felt.

Pyramid group Somasekhar has come forward to distribute this film. Artists and technicians of the film 'Thaayi' received felicitation. The trailer of the film 'Thaayi' was also screened on this occasion.
