Shreya Films `Tha' is an upcoming film which launches many a new faces in all major departments. It is Produced Rajesh Uthaman and directed by debutant director RK Surya Prabhakar who apprenticed under Samuthirakani. The lead pair Sri Hari, Benito and Nisha from Mumbai are also debutants.
The film is also first for music director Sri Vijay from Sri Lanka and lyricist RK Surya Prabakar.
`Tha' is a love story set in the dry lands of Coimbatore. The one liner about the film is this. "The one who bashes up ten is not a complete man. But the one who is liked by a woman." "It is about a violent man whose heart undergoes a sea change after falling in love" says the director.
The audio of `Tha' was launched in a simple function at Sathyam Cinemas recently. Actor Karthi released the audio and it was received by Samuthirakani.
The debutante music director has shown promise.

A joyous countryside love song with country imageries. The interludes are off beat. Not many instruments used in song except `parai' drum which suggests the feel pretty well. Minor strings and violin combined with humming in interludes gives a very pleasing village touch. Lyricist is also noted in word like `Odambu mulusum Analaachu Manasula mattum mazhaiyachu'. A polite opening to the album.

Slow melody but very foot tapping tempo. The music and of this song sounds familiar yet refreshing too. Free flowing rhythms. Longing love captured well. The Violins we hear after a while is we wanted.

Lyricist: RK. Surya Prabakar
This song is only carried by the voice of Jeya Ragavan. With low instrumentation the lyric has taken the upper hand in this song. No big trials in rhythms. The purpose and feel is similar to the first song. The flute is cajoling.

The only pure duet in the album. Starts very romantically and holds on till the end. Predictable melody and likeable though. A folksy romance that is felt in heart.

What is a Tamil movie today without a dapankuthu. This is it. A drunken man taking on things his style. Neat beats and disciplined arrangement make this passable.

Singers: Kumar, Mahalingam
Sounds a situational song. In the villupattu genre, the song is talking to society laced with some messages. The gradual rise in the tempo is pulsating. Simple naatupuram number.
Considering the fact that all the people associated with the music of this film are first timers you can give it to them. Music director Sri Vijay is a Sri Lankan and the odour is there. The instruments function as accompaniments telling the new musician has taken a traditional route in his first film.
