TG Vishwa Prasad: Ravi Teja's Eagle is a stylish action entertainer
Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
Mass Raja Ravi Teja's highly anticipated film, "Eagle," is set to hit theaters on February 9. Prior to the movie's release, producer TG Vishwa Prasad engaged with the media to discuss the project. The film features Kavya Thapar and Anupama Parameswaran in pivotal roles, with direction helmed by Karthik Ghattamaneni.
Are you happy with the release date?
The decision to change the release date was a strategic move, taken with the overall welfare of the industry in mind. This adjustment aimed to enhance the film's trade reach, and the positive outcome is evident as "Eagle" has successfully garnered significant traction.
But had the film been released during Sankranti, reach would have been greater.
Originally slated for release in December of the previous year, our initial plan for "Eagle" was then shifted to coincide with the Sankranthi festival. However, in response to a request from the Film Chamber and to steer clear of clashes with other Sankranthi releases, we made the strategic decision to move the film's release to February 9. Notably, for the Sankranthi period, we had secured around 250 confirmed screens, with an additional 100 awaiting confirmation in the Telugu States, making it the second-largest release after 'Guntur Kaaram.'
Do you think Softcorner for Ravi Teja after the postponement will be there?
Ravi Teja demonstrated generosity by agreeing to the movie's postponement, with the primary intention of avoiding a clash that could potentially harm all films involved. Our confidence in the success of 'Eagle' at the box office has always remained steadfast.
During Sankranthi, our film ranked as the second most preferred choice, with 'Guntur Kaaram' securing the top spot. Now, on February 9, 'Eagle' stands as the most preferred movie, boasting the highest number of theaters. The decision to postpone has undoubtedly placed us in a more advantageous position today. It's essential to note that these comments are not meant to criticize 'Yatra 2' or any other film in the lineup.
Tell us about the Eagle output and director Karthik Ghattamaneni
Writer-director Karthik Ghattamaneni has delivered precisely what was promised - a stylish mass action entertainer. Importantly, the budget remained within constraints, aligning with our understanding of the market size. Given the genre and star cast, 'Eagle' is deemed a low-risk project. Despite potential limitations in promotional activities, as Ravi Teja may not aggressively promote the film, our confidence remains steadfast that 'Eagle' will secure opening collections within a specific range. Subsequently, the pace of acceleration will be contingent on positive 'word of mouth.'
Acknowledging unexpected shifts in the OTT market, which are industry-wide and not specific to any particular movie, we have taken these changes into careful consideration. Drawing lessons from the success of 'Dhamaka,' which, despite receiving less-than-extraordinary ratings from critics, performed exceptionally well commercially, we approach 'Eagle' armed with a compelling storyline, spectacular action sequences, and even a mass song. It's noteworthy that 'Eagle' will initially have a Telugu-only release, with plans for a Hindi release scheduled for a later date.
Did you make any changes in Eagle as you got more time
While 'Dhamaka' presented itself as a mass entertainer, 'Eagle' takes the stage as a classic, stylish mass action entertainer with a robust entertainment foundation. The content of 'Eagle' stands out for its exceptionality, with Ravi Teja's performance promising to introduce a new dimension to the film. The narrative of 'Eagle' is enriched with a compelling storyline, meaningful messages, remarkable action sequences, and captivating songs, collectively contributing to an immersive and engaging cinematic experience.
How are you promoting the film Eagle and plans for pre release event
We are excited to announce that we will be unveiling the official Release Trailer of the film this Sunday, during a special pre-release event.
Reason for doing more films with Ravi Teja
Our collaboration with Ravi Teja Garu has been exceptionally strong, and this robust relationship is the driving force behind our decision to work on consecutive films with him
People Media Factory's future projects and film with Pawan Kalyan
People Media Factory has an ambitious slate for the upcoming year, with plans to release approximately six backlog movies along with six new projects. Notably, three to four of these new ventures have been shot in the United States, adding an international flair to our offerings. In total, we anticipate around 15 releases this year across various platforms, including OTT.
Among the noteworthy releases, Shwarnanand's film is scheduled for a June release. Additionally, audiences can expect Ravi Teja's 'Mr. Bachchan' and Sree Vishnu's 'Swag' to hit the screens within the year. However, there is no confirmation regarding taking over Pawan Kalyan Garu's project 'OG.' Interestingly, Prabhas' 'Raja Saab' is being hinted at for a potential Sankranthi 2025 release.
Addressing longstanding rumors, our banner's collaboration with Trivikram Srinivas Garu is not a recent development. Attempts were made to collaborate with him and Pawan Kalyan Garu years ago, but due to their hectic schedules, the proposed partnership has yet to materialize.
What is your involvement in the projects?
I am deeply involved in the operations at People Media Factory, addressing issues of leakages and wastage that were adversely impacting our projects. We have taken decisive steps to rectify these concerns and have successfully implemented corrective measures.
At our banner, we are on a mission to achieve the milestone of completing 100 films at an accelerated pace. Currently, around 40 projects are in various stages of development and production, underlining our commitment to making significant strides in the world of filmmaking.
There are rumours that you are parting ways with Vivek Kuchibhotla
The circulating rumor suggesting that Vivek Kuchibotla and I are parting ways holds no truth. It appears that certain individuals, impacted by the transformative changes we have initiated at our banner, are spreading this baseless falsehood. These speculations have been concocted by those affected by the organizational improvements we are implementing, particularly in addressing and rectifying quality issues within our operations.
