For those who have been raising questions about the stand of the TFPC President Vishal in the 'Mersal' issue he has issued a statement condemning the ruling BJP government for suppressing freedom of expression.

In his note, Vishal has drawn comparisons to Hollywood where the President of the United States himself is being parodied or criticized on film.  He sees the BJP stand as a move to curb creative freedom and has raised the question as when 'Mersal' has been cleared by the CBFC, nobody has the right to re-censor the film.  He finishes with the parting shot that any Indian citizen has the right to speak what he feels about anything and the film fraternity which has social conscience too has the right.
