The gunman, who opened fire at an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday and killed 19 children, has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos. He had posted pictures of assault rifles and ammunition on his Instagram account days before carrying out the attack. The teenager’s account was deleted soon after he was identified as the shooter.
The information was confirmed by a spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of Instagram. Texas Governor Greg Abbot has said that investigators were working to obtain detailed background information on the subject, his motive, the types of weapons used, the legal authority to possess them, and conduct a comprehensive crime-scene investigation and reconstruction.
