Terror threat to Amarnath Yatris, tourists

On Friday night, the Jammu & Kashmir administration asked tourists and Amarnath Yatris to leave the State in view of the "prevailing" security situation. It's reported that intelligence operatives believe there are going to be terror attacks in the coming days.
This comes just days after 28,000 paramilitary troops were deployed to the State. About 35,000 troops, who were meant to man the Amarnath Yatra routes, have been "disengaged" from that duty. They will now be deployed for other security purposes in the State.
The developments have created "panic". Says Suhasini Haidar, "Governments must reassure, not spread panic with notifications for tourists to leave the State. The toll this kind of callous messaging takes on ordinary people is unconscionable."
If critics are complaining about the "panic", others are saying that this is good.
