Director Atlee a former assistant of the legendary filmmaker Shankar recently became the first Tamil director to achieve the phenomenal rupees thousand crores collection at the worldwide box office. His Bollywood debut movie 'Jawan' starring Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone achieved the landmark.

Meanwhile Atlee's debut movie 'Raja Rani' was released on September 27th and became a blockbuster hit. The film with music by GVP starred Arya, Nayanthara, Jai and Nazriya Nazim in the lead. He later made three back to back blockbuster hit films with Thalapathy Vijay namely 'Theri', 'Mersal' and 'Bigil' before 'Jawan'.
