Marking the occasion of Mother's Day, Raghava Lawrence today inaugurated a temple dedicated to his mother Kanmani in Chennai's Thirumullaivoyal. He has been undertaking the construction of the same for many months. A statue of his mother, who is sitting in a meditative posture, was unveiled. Seen in the backdrop is an over-imposing statute of Mother Goddess.

"This temple is not just a temple for my mother but it is a dedication to all mothers living on this Earth," he had said earlier.

In Tamil Nadu, there is a tradition of temples being built for matinee idols and politicians. Lawrence's deification of his mother is in the same mould.
