Telugu film industry's urge

At a time when Tamil movies and stars are making their presence felt in Tollywood, captains of Telugu film industry have urged the Andhra Pradesh government to put restrictions on the release of dubbed movies, especially Tamil flicks, as they 'eat into the revenues of Telugu films.
They said that dubbed films should be allowed to release in not more than 80 screens, and that too not on festival days. A committee has also been constituted to conduct a study and give recommendations to the government on this front. There are mixed reactions to this development from Tollywood itself.
Top Tollywood producer Allu Sirish wrote on his micro-blogging page, While I am totally against a ban of Tamil films, restrictions proposed by producers' council is fine. AP has 1,400 screens so, 80 is too less. No festival release is a little harsh, but wonder if TN producers would put similar rules for Telugu films.
It is to be noted that 'Seventh Sense', the dubbed version of '7aum Arivu', was released in 300 theatres all over Andhra Pradesh. Likewise, almost all Tamil movies starring leading actors are dubbed and released in the 'Telugu Desam' and they make good collections too.
