Tollywood enthusiasts in the early 2000s would know that lyricist Kulasekhar was one of the most sought-after names in the industry.  His lyrics for superhits like 'Chitram', 'Nuvvu Nenu' and 'Manasantha Nuvve' fetched him laurels.

Cut to 2018, he is a habitual offender stealing valuables belonging to priests and Gods in temples.  The other day, the 47-year-old Kulasekhar was caught stealing valuables from a Devi temple near the RBI staff quarters at Ameerpet, Hyderabad.  A complaint was lodged by the priest at the temple.  On Sunday, the police arrested Kula when they spotted him roaming suspiciously near a temple at Srinagar Colony.  They have seized 10 mobile phones worth Rs. 50,000 from him.  Besides, bags containing valuables worth Rs. 45,000 and some locks, debit and credit cards have been seized.

Kula's misdeeds began in 2013, when he was caught stealing a 'Shata Gopuram' at a temple in Kakinada.  After being jailed for the crime, the lyricist's family members started distancing themselves from him.  Years later, he started living at Moti Nagar in a rented house in Hyderabad.

It's said that an offensive song written for a movie by Kula angered the members of a particular caste group, who banished him.  Since then, the lyricist started taking revenge against the caste group by targeting them as a thief.

What a bizarre fall from grace for a once-reputed lyricist!
