In recent times, social media has catapulted many individuals to fame, granting them celebrity status with just a single video or reel. The allure of stardom and lucrative opportunities in the entertainment industry has attracted countless aspiring actors and influencers. However, the path to fame can sometimes lead down a treacherous road.

Such is the case of Soumya Shetty, also known as Soumya Killampally, a popular social media influencer and aspiring actress. Her journey took a sharp turn when she was apprehended for theft, tarnishing her reputation and casting a shadow over her burgeoning career. The incident unfolded in Pendurthi, Visakhapatnam, where Soumya had befriended Maunika, the daughter of Janapala Prasad and a fellow influencer. Under the guise of friendship, Soumya frequently visited Maunika's residence, where she would often retreat to the bedroom for extended periods. During these visits, Soumya allegedly stole approximately 1 kg of gold from the family's jewelry collection.

Maunika's family became suspicious when they noticed the missing gold and filed a complaint with the police, implicating Soumya in the theft. Upon investigation, the police detained Soumya and recovered 74 grams of gold from her possession. According to reports, Soumya admitted to the theft but claimed she was unable to return the remaining gold. She allegedly threatened to commit suicide if pressed further. The police subsequently remanded Soumya to custody for 15 days.

Soumya's background as a junior artist and her eight-year friendship with Maunika provided her with ample opportunity to execute her scheme. She gained their trust and used the pretext of using the bathroom to access the family's private spaces, where she stole the jewelry. This incident serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the potential pitfalls of pursuing fame through questionable means. Soumya's actions have not only damaged her reputation but have also jeopardized her future prospects in the entertainment industry.
