Weavers from Bhoodan Pochampally in Yadadri-Bhongiri are meticulously crafted sacred silk robes destined for Lord Sri Rama and Sita, paying homage to the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya.
Renowned for their exceptional Ikkat silk craftsmanship, these skilled artisans from Pochampally, situated approximately 60 kilometers from Hyderabad, have embarked on the creation of these special silk robes within the premises of the Sri Sita Rama Swamy temple in Sanathnagar. To mark the commencement of this significant endeavor, actress Poonam Kaur, the handloom brand ambassador, took part in a solemn pooja ceremony at the Sanathnagar temple.
A dedicated team of weavers from Padmashali Seva Samaj has embraced the responsibility of fashioning these silk robes, which include a pair of pancha and kanduva for Lord Sri Ram and an elegant silk saree for Goddess Sita. The intricate weaving process is anticipated to conclude within a week, with the completed robes scheduled to be handed over to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya around January 28 or 29.
B. Satish, the vice president of Padmashali Seva Samaj, elucidated that the robes encompass a dhoti length of 5 ½ meters, a kanduva length of 2.5 meters, and a saree length of 5 ½ meters.Jayaraj, trustee of Ganapathi Temple in Secunderabad, expressed, "The silk robes will be transported by the weavers and presented to the Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya. Until now, we have extended silk robes to 36 shrines in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, aspiring to reach a total of 100 shrines."
Sharing this significant development, Poonam Kaur, the Brand Ambassador for Handloom, posted, "The weavers' community from Pochampally blessed me with an opportunity to conduct a Pooja for cheneta maggam, which is preparing special vastram for 'Siya Ram' and 'Hanuman' Ji on the occasion of Ram Mandir Pran Prathista in Ayodhya. Fifteen weavers will be leaving for Ayodhya for darshan."
