A final year BSc student from Telangana’s Warangal was set on fire by her alleged stalker earlier today.

The incident reportedly happened when the girl, identified as Ravali, was on her way to her college. Anwesh, a student of the same college, stopped her at Nayeem Nagar and asked her to marry him. On being rejected, the boy set her ablaze after pouring petrol all over her. People rushed to help the girl only after Anwesh fled the spot as he had allegedly threatened them until then. The victim has sustained 90 percent burns and is reportedly in a critical condition.

The accused has been arrested by the police, who have booked him under sections 307 and 354 D of the Indian Penal Code.
