The newly-elected Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) led K. Chandrasekhara Rao Govt. in Telangana has written to the Centre requesting for allocation of funds to the tune of Rs.100 crores to extend the ‘green cover’ to many parts of the State including Hyderabad.
Rao told Union Environment & Forests Minister K. Harsh Vardhan to extend support to the state's efforts to increase green cover especially covering the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) limits.
Rao sought an additional Rs.100 crores from the Centre’s share of the ‘Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management & Planning Authority’ in order to support the State Govt.’s initiatives in developing 188 forest-blocks within the HMDA limits. The mercurial chief-minister also requested the Union Minister to accord environmental clearance for State 2 of the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project.
Harsh Vardhan, a prominent BJP politician from the national capital, called on Rao at the latter’s office at Pragathi Bhawan to congratulate him on TRS’ resounding victory t the just-concluded Assembly polls.
