The theatre owners from Telangana on Tuesday met with Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. They called on the Minister to urge him to take a few crucial decisions for the financial viability of the exhibition sector.

The owners requested the government to waive off the fixed electricity charges for the period in which there was a lockdown. Theatres also want permission to hold five shows per day at their discretion. As per the extant arrangement, special permissions from the local administration has to be sought. This can be made automatic for the welfare of the exhibition sector, the owners feel.

The government has also been urged to look into the creation of a cine hub in Hyderabad. That way, investments can be attracted by offering incentives and subsidies to studios.

The Minister also listened in to their request of granting a single-window clearance for shootings.

T Srinivas Yadav assured the theatre owners of deliberating upon the concerns and suggestions in their next meeting. Recently, the government allowed theatres and multiplexes in the State to collect parking fee.
