Like in every election season, this time too it's a field day for the betting market. Cricket matches and political contests have always seen intense betting activities in districts like West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh.

The Telangana elections have become a hot market for the betting market participants in AP. As per reports, ever since the exit polls were out on Friday, betting 'rayullu' have only become more active.

Besides speculations on which party or alliance will win Telangana, there is also hyper betting activity in West Godavari over the victory margins of major candidates such as KCR, KTR, Revanth Reddy, among others.

It's learned that the participants are going with their convictions/estimations regardless of what pollsters are saying. It's estimated by observers that betting is to the tune of Rs 100 Cr in West Godavari alone. The quantum of hawala money is really huge.

Since betting is illegal in India, police have kept major activity centres such as bars, etc under surveillance.

In the age of the Internet, it's easy for the participants to use shady avenues to transact their activities. When they use hard copies for striking agreements, police find it easy to nab them with evidence, a report says.
