Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) president and incumbent chief-minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao was sworn-in as the regular chief-minister yesterday at a glittering function at Hyderbad for a second consecutive term following the party’s landslide victory in the just-concluded Assembly polls, votes of which were counted on Tuesday.
Rao, who led the party to a mammoth, more than two-thirds majority in the 119-member strong Legislative Assembly, braved the opposition from Congress-TDP combine (he had termed the alliance as an ‘opportunistic one’) and the BJP in the run up to last Friday’s polls to lead TRS to victory. After Tuesday’s resounding victory, Rao’s election as the leader of TRS Legislature Party had become a foregone conclusion.
Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to K. Chandrasekhara Rao at the colour function held in the premises of Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Only one more Minister took oath along with Rao. It was informed later to newsmen that KCR plans to expand his cabinet next week.
