With the crucial tax reform, Goods and Services Tax regime, coming into force from midnight, film industries across India are on the edge. The burden on exhibitors will only increase if the State governments don't ease it by taking suitable measures. In the important State Tamil Nadu, home to the cash-rich Kollywood, there is uncertainty as a decision is yet to be taken. The theatres will be closed on Monday due to the same.

In Telangana, however, the government has for now withheld the GO regarding post-GST ticket rates.

The idea is to take a call only after reviewing the scenario post the implementation of the regime. Even experts are unsure about how it will pan out. Film industry reps like D Suresh Babu have been telling the government as to how Tollywood will be affected by the GST. They are hoping KTR to influence a favourable policy.
