A 31-year-old with coronavirus symptoms collapsed and died outside a private hospital in Telangana on Wednesday afternoon allegedly after being refused treatment by the hospital.
The man was a resident of Jawahar Nagar and was employed with a private firm. He was reportedly taken to the hospital in ECIL road after he complained of breathlessness. He developed a fever 10 days ago and was suspected of being infected with the novel coronavirus. The authorities in the hospital redirected him to a bigger hospital allegedly after administering oxygen for ten minutes. "We called an auto to take him to KIMS after this hospital said the ambulance was not available. No one from the hospital emergency helped us either," the victim's sister said. A video of the man lying dead outside the hospital with his mother and sister by his side has gone viral on social media and enraged people have been demanding justice for the deceased and his family.
A hospital authority reportedly said, "All suspected cases were being redirected to the government hospitals, but they did not arrange any vehicle for him." An investigating official stated, "The hospital did refer him to another hospital. But he collapsed while waiting for an auto. The incident occurred at ECIL road." Even though the man was not tested for coronavirus, he was buried as per the Covid-19 protocol.
