Telangana's debt burden becomes hot topic!
- IndiaGlitz, [Tuesday,February 14 2023]
In what has been described as an instance of excessive debt burden, the overall debt of the Telangana government is said to be Rs. 4,33,817 Cr. This figure includes the debts given to Telangana PSUs and other state corporations. After Monday's statement by a Union Minister in Parliament, the BJP has been highlighting the issue.
Recently, the Telangana state budget stated that the state's public outstanding debut was Rs 3.57 lakh crore, as per 2023-24 budget estimates. This is lower than the limits prescribed by the 15th Finance Commission in terms of the debt-GSDP ratio.
While the situation doesn't seem too bleak, the State should have been in a much better position given its relative advantage on the fiscal front when it was born in 2014.
Telangana BJP chief alleged that KCRâs so-called Ab ki Baar Kisan Sarkar has meant more per-capital debt farmers. Every agricultural household in Telangana has an outstanding loan of Rs 1.52 lakh. This figure is twice the national average of Rs 74,121, tweeted Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy opined that the debt of Telangana has skyrocketed under the BRS government, leaving future generations to bear the burden. The irresponsible and reckless financial management continues must stop! Our citizens deserve better financial management and responsibility, he added.
