Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy defended the police action regarding Allu Arjun's arrest, asserting that law enforcement was performing its duty. Arjun’s arrest stemmed from the December 4 stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre, which tragically claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman and left her minor son critically injured.
According to Revanth Reddy, the stampede occurred after Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre and greeted fans from his car’s sunroof, causing the gathered crowd to surge uncontrollably. He emphasized that despite Allu Arjun’s wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, being related to him, family ties did not influence the government's legal actions.
The arrest sparked significant backlash from the film fraternity and political leaders, who criticized the handling of the situation. In response, Revanth Reddy reiterated that the law would follow its due process without interference.
Later, the Telangana High Court granted Allu Arjun interim bail for four weeks, recognizing his constitutional right to life and liberty. This development came after a lower court had initially sent the actor to 14 days of judicial custody.
