The Telangana Cabinet has today proposed the dissolution of the state assembly. Chief Minister KCR has already met with the Governor.
So, early polls are imminent. The Telugu State will most likely go to polls with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh later this year. "A strategic decision to take on the Congress. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi will be busy with other state elections, will now have to give time for Telangana. KCR took oath as CM of newly formed Telangana on June 2, 2014. Worked as a CM for 4 years 3 months," says Nagarjuna Dwarakanath, a journo.
Hours before the dissolution of the assembly, MLA Revanth Reddy, who won on a Telugu Desam ticket and who has been with the Congress for some months now, had resigned as a legislator. "The people of Telangana are having to pay the price for the insane antics of KCR in dissolving assembly 8 months before it is due. I am resigning in protest," he said.
As things stand, the Congress has stated that it will challenge the decision of dissolution in court. On the other hand, the BJP wants the imposition of President's Rule.
