The healthcare machinery is gearing up to administer vaccines against coronavirus to as many as 80 lakh people in Telangana in January. This will be in the first phase of the inoculation drive.

As many as 10,000 individuals are currently being trained to administer the vaccine. As per a review meeting held on Thursday, each vaccinator will be capable of administering vaccine jabs to 100 people on a daily basis.

The first phase of the drive will see healthcare frontline workers, doctors and paramedics, police, municipal personnel and the elderly getting vaccinated.

As for the second phase, individuals above 50 years and those below 50 years with co-morbidities will be vaccinated.

The Pfizer vaccine will have to be administered in two installments. The second booster shot will be given 28 days after the first one. It's only then that the individual can be deemed to have acquired immunity against COVID-19.
