In the year 2000, when ‘Chitram’ hit the screens, it became a rage with the college-goers and other youths. Debutant director Teja became the talk of the Tinseltown, while newcomer Uday Kiran stared at a colourful future in cinema. It had Reema Sen in the role of a college girl who mothers her boyfriend's child. The film had some superb tunes by debutant RP Patnaik. Ramoji Rao, who produced the film on a shoestring budget, made humongous profits. It's said that the movie's budget was not even Rs 50 lakh.
The experimental film, which heralded college-campus stories in Tollywood, is now going to have a sequel. Director Teja on Monday announced its title as ‘Chitram 1.1’. It's learned that he is roping in newbies for the film. This is in keeping with the spirit of 'Chitram'.
The film is going to have cinematography by the talented technician Sameer Reddy. RP Patnaik, Teja's first music director who went on to dish out memorable music for 'Nuvvu Nenu' after 'Chitram', is back in action.
Director Teja, whose previous film 'Sita' was a box-office disaster, has an uphill task ahead. Will he reinvent himself with the new version of 'Chitram'?
