On Thursday, actress Kangana Ranaut shared the first glimpse of her upcoming film 'Emergency'. The short teaser featured Kangana in the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and it seems like the actress is all set to redeem herself with a phenomenal performance after the failure of her last film 'Dhaakad'. The teaser pointed out the fact that people used to address Indira Gandhi as sir instead of ma'am.
Apart from playing the lead, Kangana will also act as director on this project. She has clarified that the film is not a biopic of Mrs Gandhi but a political drama based on one of the darkest periods of Indian democracy.
Talking about the film, Kangana had earlier said, "Emergency reflects one of the most important periods in Indian political history which changed the way we view power and that’s why I decided to tell this story. Moreover, playing a public figure on screen is always a challenge because one has to get the look, the characteristics and the persona right. I spent a significant amount of time researching the subject and once I felt I had enough ammunition, I commenced the film’s.
