Chandrababu Naidu has termed as atrocious and unprecedented the YSRCP government's act of putting him, his son Nara Lokesh and other TDP leaders under house arrest to prevent them from taking up the Chalo Atmakur rally early on Wednesday.
The principal Opposition party has tried to portray YS Jaganmohan Reddy as an authoritarian ruler who has scant regard for fundamental as well as human rights. By pitching his case in this manner, the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and his party have managed the headlines well. The national media seems to be sympathetic toward the TDP as far as this issue is concerned.
Jaydev Galla quoted the Supreme Court, saying that the right to protest is a fundamental right. "Freedom of Speech, right to assemble and peaceful agitation are basic features of a democratic system. Chalo Atmakur was taken up to provide justice to victims of YCP attacks and safeguard their human rights," he tweeted out.
