Akshay highly awaited special 26 with Neeraj Pandey is a hotcake thanks to its vigorous and smart promotions all around.. news where circulating that Akshay Kumar is all set to visit TBZ flagship store in Zaveri Bazaar on Feb 7. The reason? This quintessential jewellery store has a significant role in the film which is based on the true incident that had happened during late 80s.
The incident in reference is that of a day light robbery when 26 men along with the mastermind Ajay Singh raided the store and walked away with all cash and jewellery. Keeping the store's history in mind, Akshay along with his Special 26 gang plans to revisit the store and evoke the memories of the real incident.
However, TBZ denied entertaining any such promotional activity in their store for Special 26. TBZ issued a press release stating, 'We wish to bring to your notice that the entire news report is factually inaccurate, incorrect and totally false.'
Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Limited (a Shrikant Zaveri Group company also known as TBZ - The Original) denies any heist whatsoever at the flagship TBZ - The Original store in Zaveri Bazar, Mumbai. It also denies any heist or robbery in the 1980's as indicated in the 'untrue' news reports. Further, TBZ-The Original has not granted any permission to the any film crew in relation to the above mentioned purpose / promotion to visit to TBZ-The Original store in Zaveri Bazaar.
The press release by TBZ also states that the incident of the heist (as referred to in the film Special 26) occurred at a jewellery store (which has the similar name but belongs to another Group) at Opera House in the 1980s. This store has no connection whatsoever with TBZ-The Original owned by Mr. Shrikant Zaveri.
