Despite Lawsuit Warning, Jack Sweeney Keeps Watch on Taylor Swift's Flights

College student Jack Sweeney is not fazed by the threats of legal action from Taylor Swift's attorneys as he continues tracking the pop star's movements en route to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Sweeney, a 21-year-old junior at the University of Central Florida, runs accounts that monitor the flights of celebrities, billionaires, and politicians. One of them is Swift, whose use of private jets has become an issue of debate because of carbon emissions.

In defiance of the legal warning, Sweeney goes ahead to document Swift's travels as she treks from Tokyo to Las Vegas to attend the Super Bowl with boyfriend Travis Kelce. He shares details of her flights, which include flight numbers and alleged in-flight messages.

Sweeney's accounts, done with publicly available data, also calculate the estimated carbon emissions of such flights. He earlier took on Elon Musk for the emissions from his jet in 2022.

In response to the legal threat posed by the attorneys of Swift, Sweeney rebuts the argument, stating that the case is about transparency, where people have the right to know and get information. He cites conflicting statements from Swift's camp about her jet use and says tracking her flights is a matter of public interest.

Swift's lawyers allege that Sweeney has been causing harm and distress to Swift and her family by way of stalking and harassment. They call upon him to discontinue the tracking of her flights immediately.

After arriving from Tokyo, Swift was seen promptly leaving LAX amidst fan and media excitement. She was seeking to lay low, holding her head down from the crowd while leaving in an SUV.

But despite the legal pressure, Sweeney is still committed to what he does and bases himself on the public's interest in knowing the movements of some high-profile personalities.
