Travis Kelce could be taking on a leading part in Hollywood. Said to be in negotiations to headline the action-comedy "Loose Cannons" with Lionsgate is the Kansas City Chiefs standout tight end. Along with Jason Spitz and Alex Young, Chad Stahelski, the director of the "John Wick" franchise, is scheduled to produce the movie under his 87Eleven Entertainment banner. Tim Dowling will author the script.
Kelce's NFL obligations mean that production isn't likely to start anytime soon; nonetheless, the season starts in two weeks and the project has supporters humming. Beginning with his well-known podcast "New Heights", co-hosted by his brother and former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, Kelce has been making headway in the entertainment scene lately. His popularity has also surged in direct line with his relationship with musical phenomenon Taylor Swift.
Among Kelce's growing portfolio are hosting responsibilities for the forthcoming game show "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity", scheduled for fall. He also has a supporting part in Ryan Murphy's FX comedy "Grotesquerie", which airs September 25.
Though the title "Loose Cannons" sounds familiar, this is not a remake of the 1990 criminal comedy starring Dan Aykroyd and Gene Hackman. The new series centers on two wild officers who are teamed up to try to straighten things out. With credits including "Office Christmas Party" and "Role Models", Dowling, renowned for his comedic talents, Stahelski, meantime, keeps working with Lionsgate, intending to oversee a "Highlander" remake for the firm.
