Taxiwaala' is touted to be a fun ride. What is left unsaid is that it's is an eccentric fun ride, seemingly. Slapstick comedy is only to be expected.
This might well be Vijay Deverakonda's first full-fledged attempt at different shades of comedy. Even when he is scared, he is expected to extract laughs. That's a tough task. Will the rising star succeed?
The premise of a bloody ghost (or is it something else?) making a snazzy taxi its home is interesting. If it has chosen the hero for a plausible and relatable reason, the story will deliver greater impact.
The film is in the mould of horror comedy-meets-fantasy. Ravi Varma's character seems to hold the key for a fantastical mystery.
Vijay Deverakonda is not that guy from an affluent family, as he was in his previous films. He does quite a few 'acrobatic' jobs until that mysterious taxi decides to give a U-turn to his life.
Telugu girl Priyanka Jawalkar is the heroine and she hardly has much to speak in the trailer. Maybe, she neither listens (courtesy 'Maate Vinadhuga') nor speaks. Madhu Nandan is seen with a moustache and that's not cool. Chammak Chandra and others are seen.
If Jakes Bejoy's BGM is in tune with the overall feel, Sujith Sarang seems to have deployed the art of lighting to a sizzling effect. Srikanth Rami Shetty's art department needs to be watched out for.
Malavika Nair, Kalyani, Madhunandan, Sijju Menon, Ravi Prakash, Ravi Varma, Uttej, Vishnu are part of the cast.
The screenplay and dialogues are by Sai Kumar Reddy. Sync Cinema is taking care of the Sound department. Lyrics are by Krishnakanth. Stunts are by Jashua.
The film will hit the screens on November 17.
