Task Force police from Hyderabad have arrested a group of men trying to sell off a stone that looks like Shiva Lingam for an astronomical price. Rangacharyulu from Krishna district, Dileep Kumar from Kanchikacharla Jagannathapuram, Balaji from Khammam, Srinivas from Rajahmundry have been accused of staging a fraudulent mega business deal by hoodwinking the gullible.
"The accused found a green stone that almost looked like a Shiva Lingam. They procured a fake certificate that said that the stone is very precious. They projected the certificate as having been issued by a Hyderabad-based gemologist and tried to sell off the stone in Vijayawada but there were no exciting bids. The accused moved to Ibrahimpatnam in Hyderabad and decided to auction it," the police said.
They were looking at earning Rs 2 Cr through the auction. The Task Force police went to the auction on the basis of a tip-off in disguise.
