The drugs scandal has hit both Bollywood and Sandalwood, of late. If Rhea Chakraborty has been questioned by an investigating agency, Kannada actresses Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani were recently taken into custody by CCB for questioning. Their houses were raided on the suspicion that they were involved in substance abuse.
Latest developments in the case suggest that the investigators are keen on cracking the case in a big way so that the nexus between the glamour industry and some politicians is unearthed. It has been suspected by agencies that several celebs from Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad have been visiting casinos in foreign places like Colombo for years. These casinos are hotbeds of substance abuse.
A few days ago, a Congress leader by name Zameer Ahmed from Karnataka was said to be in the dock for visiting a Colombo-based casino. No less a leader than Siddaramaiah, the former Chief Minister of Karnakata, has said that Zameer is not guilty. The very fact that a former CM has been forced to comment on the development says it all.
The focus of the agencies is said to be the political class (mainly those belonging to the opposition parties) and not film celebs. Some of the actors and actresses will be questioned with the aim of implicating their political networks.
