Tamilisai welcomes SC staying allotment of pressure cooker to Dinakaran

Tamil Nadu BJP president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to stay allocation of the 'pressure cooker' symbol to the Dinakaran faction, which still wants to be known as the 'actual' AIADMK.

Tamil Nadu chief-minister EPS and deputy chief-minister OPS, respectively the deputy convener and convener of the ruling AIADMK in the State, filed an appeal with the Supreme Court objecting to the allotment of 'pressure cooker' symbol to Dinakaran, using which he won last December's R.K. Nagar by-polls in Chennai.

Taking up the appeal, the Supreme Court stayed the order of the Delhi High Court allocating the 'pressure cooker' symbol to Dinakaran.  It also directed the Delhi High Court to dispose off the case relating to allocation of 'Two-Leaves' symbol to the AIADMK within the next three weeks.  This is seen as a huge setback to Dinakaran and his supporters.

Commenting on the apex Court's verdict, Tamilisai told newsmen yesterday in Ariyalur that it was a welcome decision by the apex Court in staying the order of the Delhi High Court allotting 'pressure cooker' symbol to Dinakaran.  She added in a lighter vein that 'pressure cooker' was needed for homes and not for parties.  She also said that whether the Centre constituted a Cauvery Management Board or a committee, it should ensure that Tamil Nadu's Cauvery water needs are met.
