BJP National secretary H.Raja has been synonymous with controversy, and when he had been to campaign for Lok Sabha elections 2019 in Sivagangai, his announcement of BJP candidates for the elections without discussing with the party, on his own, has shocked the party high command, and it has been said that BJP state head Tamilisai Soundararajan has planned to report this to BJP national leaders Muralidhara Rao and Piyush Goyal.
BJP has been allotted 5 constituencies by ADMK, and it was announced that they will be contesting elections from Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai and Coimbatore, and BJP has not officially released the candidate list so far. However during the press interaction in Karaikudi, H.Raja said that Pon.Radhakrishnan will be contesting from Kanyakumari,Tamilisai from Thoothukudi, himself from Sivagangai,Nainar Nagendran from Ramanathapuram and CP Radhakrishnan from Coimbatore.
This self declaration by H.Raja on contesting elections from Sivagangai has shocked the party members, and though Raja had later tried damage control by saying that this was just his guess, the news of Raja releasing candidate list had spread like wildfire. Tamilisai Soundararajan had reportedly been angry at this act of Raja, questioning if she was the leader or him, and whether herself and other leaders were there to watch him announcing the candidates. It must be noted that there are conflicts between them already, and BJP sources report that H.Raja had probably did this just to ensure he gets a seat, as there were voices against giving a seat to him this time.
