The Centre heaped yet another humiliation on Tamil and Tamils across the world by purposely neglecting the language in its much-touted ‘Ek Bharat’ website whose purpose, ironically, is to forge better relations between the States and the Centre.

Hosted by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, the ‘Ek Bharat’ website offers detailed info on various cultures/traditions/rituals followed in each of the States in the country, listing the festivals/functions of significance which are observed in various States. The data is supported by eye-catching photographs.

In a section captioned as ‘Objectives of the Website’, it is clearly mentioned that the primary objective was to forge better relations and unity between the States as the website proudly recalled the divergent traditions/culture/lifestyles in existence in various States in the country.

The home-page consists of the words ‘Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat’ (One India – Best India) which are displayed in all recognized languages in the country including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, etc. with Tamil getting neglected for no apparent reason. Netizens have said it is high time the Centre came out with an open apology for neglecting Tamils and give Tamil its due place in its ‘unity’ website.
